Francisco Gutiérrez Cossío was born in 1894 in San Diego de los Baños, Cuba, although he spent most of his life in Spain, becoming one of the most important Spanish painters of the twentieth century. In 1923 he met Spanish painters from Pablo Picasso's circle in Paris. From then on, his works displayed a certain influence of the Malaga painter's style. This lithograph shows a still life, an oval table, where elements appear poorly defined although they are intuited, since his works are characterized by the way in which the objects seem to dissolve, by their decorative qualities, by their plastic appearance.
