Antonio López was born in Tomelloso, Ciudad Real, in 1936. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Madrid, becoming one of the leading figures of the realist movement in Spain in the second half of the twentieth century and early twenty-first century. This work represents a seated woman as the only protagonist of the composition, in a rural and austere environment, representative of Spain at the time.
